Do we know the name of the librarian before Giles? I feel like it was said at some point, but I can't remember when or what it is. Help please.

I honestly don't think it was mentioned, just the fact that Giles was new and had come from London, curator of The British Museum.

That's highly possible. After so many years, it can be hard to remember what's canon and what's fanon. I know I've seen the old librarian named, but it could have been in a story, something someone made up.

I just looked at the transcript for WttH and I found no mention of the previous librarian's name.

Yeah, I checked there too before asking. I guess I was hoping it was mentioned in a later episode. I didn't find anything after doing a transcript search for "librarian" for the first season, though.
