I definitely miss the early-season-one Peter. The more carefree and adventurous guy. Without his memories to harden him, and having learned from Nathan that he's not a cold-blooded killer, he is able to rely on his intuitions again. And his intuition tells him that being with Nathan and Claire is right.
As bad as I feel that Nathan was being a little left out, I think he would have taken a step back to see Peter happy at this point.
Yes, Peter is definitely getting cake and eating it too. Even with having Nathan, Peter wants Claire too. And it's just more fun when he gets her.
