dragonydreams: (Angel - sleeping)

Did anyone else stay up until midnight to watch the premier of Hex on BBC America last night? If you didn't, you should have. I'm sufficiently intrigued by this show. And the guy who plays Azazeal...too hot.

Summary from TVGuide.com: "Cassie, a shy student at a remote British boarding school, discovers that she has developed strange new powers that attract the attention of Azazeal, a fallen angel who wants her as a blood sacrifice."

Luckily I taped it while I was watching so that I can go back and catch the things I missed. I was getting the voting form ready for SunnyD (will come back to this in a moment) so I caught a lot of reactions, but missed the flashes that caused them. For those of you who didn't catch it, it'll be on again over the weekend at varying times.

Back to SunnyD...Voting won't open until after work today. I decided to double check that all the links were working this morning before uploading the voting form and found that a couple of them didn't. (One site had moved and the other was a LJ that is now locked.) I've emailed the people who nominated the stories and asked them to get me working links by 5pm (my time). I know that it's kind of short notice, but it's not my fault if the links provided don't work and I'm not going to include stories in voting that can't be linked to properly.

We can't get BBC America here...WAAAAAAAH!

I think you're being very responsible about Sunny D.

Every time I think about getting rid of BBCA something gets advertised that makes me want to keep it. (I have to pay extra for it.)

Our cable company doesn't even offer BBC America, even though, as they told us, people ask for it all the time. GRRRR!

I downloaded the first 6 or 7 episodes but have not had a chance to watch it yet.

Hopefully it'll be worth the download. I have a hard time forming opinions after pilot episodes because there's too much introduction going on and not enough plot. I'll stick with it for a while and see.

True enough.

The way they advertised it across here it actually looked quite rubbish. Plus with the way they tried to hype it as being "...the British Buffy..." just turned me off of it before it had even started.

Yeah, my dad had initially told me about it, along with the promo that it was the "British Buffy", so I promptly forgot about it. Then I saw a commercial for it and it looked interesting. It's SO nothing like Buffy, aside from having a supernatural element. Then again, I resisted "Veronica Mars" which was touted as the New Buffy its first season and it's now my favorite show on TV. I'll stick with Hex for a little while and see. Opinions are generally hard to properly make based off of pilot when they're trying too hard to set the storyline up.

They did that with Roswell when it first started across here as well, "Buffy for a new generation" or something along those lines. I at least watched the Pilot episode of Roswell, then promptly stopped watching after that.

Yeah, Roswell was a crappy show. Yet I watched it for 2 years before I got fed up with it. Again, it's that supernatural thing that they've got in common, sort of. Then again, I wasn't watching Buffy yet when Roswell premiered here.

Wow, that guy is hot enough that I'm actually considering hooking my digital cable back up. Technically I *get* BBC America, but I have to use my cable box to get it. And I have yet to figure out a way to make my cable box work with my VCR/DVD box. So for the last year or so I've just lived with the 100 or so channels that I can access without the box. But that guy is hot enough that I'm rethinking that.

You're more generous than I am--I'd have just deleted the nominations. Not your fault that the links don't work!

Isn't he gorgeous! I will definitely have to make an icon of him at some point. Every so often I think about giving up BBCA because it's the only channel that I watch in a more expensive package, but then they show something I want to watch, so I keep it. I'm glad that I did.

I know, I'm a very nice person. One ended up coming down because they nominator didn't know a non-LJ link. Oh well, at least I tried.
