Did Buffy ever get her driver's license?

I know that she asked about getting it in season three at the beginning of Band Candy, but then had an accident in her mom's Jeep. I can't recall if she ever got it though. I don't think we ever saw her driving. She was always the passenger with Giles, Xander and/or Spike.

I'm working on a scene and it's kinda an important detail. Thanks!

Thank you. I didn't think so, but wanted to check before going further.

If she did get it then it was definetely an off screen moment.

But we never saw her drive, right?

Not that I can recall, but it's been a few years since I watched a post S3 episode.

Hi. I was cruising a friend's flist and saw this.

She drove in s7 - at least once that I recall. The night everyone wanted RJ, and she went to the school to kill Wood with a rocket launcher. One of the funniest scenes in 7 years. She parked badly, so her driving skills didn't get any better. Although I suppose that doesn't prove she *did* get a license, but you can't really live in California that's *not* a major metropolitan center (like San Francisco) without driving and I can't see her doing that without getting a license. Hope this helps:)

I forgot about that scene. So it's not that she couldn't drive, it's that she just doesn't do it well, or often.

Thanks for the input.

Buffy must have had license and it had to have happened off screen, but she doesnt drive a lot cuz she seems to lack the skills. I say this because when she came back from being dead in season six, Angel called and she left on the fly. Just took off saying she had to go to him. I doubt anyone would have let her go if she had been no license, hence no insurance Buffy.

Oh yeah. I guess I never thought about how she went to meet Angel.

Since I'm not a big Buffy fan I didn't pay as much attention to details like this, until it's important in a story I'm writing. *grin*

Hehe, I am all about the details. Or maybe its just that I have watched most episodes at least 10 times and it's been hammered into my brain.

What [livejournal.com profile] cafedemonde said, plus one: in 4th season, after Pangs. How would she have gotten to LA without driving? No one else went with her that we know about. That's not saying she drove legally, though . . .

However, I think that the only time Joss and company really thought about Buffy driving was when they needed a joke that would tie in with other jokes from previous seasons. Details, while many fans can pick them out of a hat and parade them on and on, were not something the writers often seemed to fuss with. Ya know?

Have read the new chapter of T.A. twice now. Am I supposed to find something to correct? I know you were worried about that one scene, but . . . I'm not. It flows great. Builds up tensions. And the ending? Perfect!

And like I said to Femail, since I'm so not a Buffy fan, I didn't really pay close attention to details about things like driving. Until I need to. I guess she must have driven to LA herself both times she went during S1 of Angel. I think that I assumed that her dad picked her up at least one of the times, since she claimed she was visiting him, or she took a bus. If she does have a license it would certainly help me out.

If you haven't found anything to correct with TA, that's wonderful. Just goes to show my anxiety is for nothing and how out of touch I am with this story. The other part of the problem is that I didn't really know where I was gonna go with the story. But I've been mentally writing the next scene all morning, hence the question in this post. I think you can guess why.

She could also have easily flown to L.A as S6 established that Sunnydale has it's own airport. The only thing that really points to her driving (though not necessarily having a liscence) is meeting Angel at the beginning of S6 as they were meeting half-way and it was basically he'd just phoned and she was going at that moment to meet him so public transport probably wouldn't have been used.

Buffy drives her mom home from the hospital in season 5, and we see her drive at least once in season 7 (I think).

I forgot about her driving Joyce. Thanks. It's one of those details one doesn't pay attention to unless it's a necessary detail.
