Question for the masses

I have a Veronica Mars question that I'm really hoping someone can help me with.

Were Duncan and Lily twins? If not, who was older?

This has been bugging me for over a week and I can't seem to find the answer online. All it ever says is that they were brother and sister.

well, there's this mention in an interview with the graphic designer. it sounds to me like they're supposed to be both born in 1987 but not be twins. (and that maybe even the writers don't know for sure.)

No wonder I'm confused if the people working on the show don't even know. I hadn't thought of the possibility that they were born at opposite ends of the same year. Thanks for the link.
