Help! I've got a worm
Mar. 23rd, 2011 10:02 pmShitshitshit. I've got a worm on my desktop computer. It's calling itself W32/Blaster.worm and is blocking my existing anti-virus softeare and anti-malware software and won't let download anything else. I don't know what to do.
I already unplugged my external hard drive, but I don't know what else to do. Do I try rebooting? Should I try a system restore (if I can remember how to do that)?
Gah! This is so not what I needed right now.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: the people who send out computer viruses are the lowest creatures on the earth.
Update: I ran the Fix program while in Safe Mode, and it said that the worm wasn't on my computer. I restarted normally and it's still there. ::headdesk::
Update 2: While talking with my brother, we realized that what I have is not actually the Blaster worm, but something else that is claiming I have that worm on my computer. Not sure what the actual virus is called. Brother said that if he were here he could probably fix my computer, but it's not something he could walk me though on the phone (since he lives in MN and I live in MA). He suggested I take it in somewhere when I can and just use my laptop in the meantime. I'll keep searching for solutions online...tomorrow, because it's now after midnight and I need some sleep.
