I had a really nice visit with

snogged today. We met up halfway between her home and my dad's house to see the movie Sing and then we had lunch at Culver's. The movie was cute and heartwarming. We exchanged presents over lunch. I'm excited to read the book she gave me: Heartless by Marisa Meyer.

I've gotten my parents hooked on This is Us. Last night I insisted that they watch the first episode On Demand because they weren't watching it. We then watched three more. They'll be all caught up by the end of the weekend. :)

Tomorrow I will make my grandmother's Sour Cream Cookies.

I hope everyone is having a good pre-holiday week.

I'm in shock right now.

emeraldswan died suddenly today. She just gave birth to her third child last week. I can't imagine what her family must be going through right now.

She was my oldest online friend. She was the first person I actually emailed with that was more than just feedback for my Willow/Giles fics nearly 12 years ago. We almost met at least 3 times, but her plans always ended up changing and it never happened. I still had hope that one day we would meet and I could thank her in person for opening me up to a more enriching fandom life. I wouldn't know all of you without having known her. She will be missed.

ETA: I think I'll need to spend the rest of my weekend re-reading all her fic at Near Her Always and Soulmates (Angel) (Spike) and Twisting the Hellmouth.

My partner at the SunnyD Awards (yes, I do have a partner) just remembered that she had created a LJ a long time ago that she never uses. I think that I have convinced her how much fun using it can be.
